Pushkar Fair

Pushkar Fair of Rajasthan is world renowned and tourists from across the globe flock to Pushkar to view and experience an outburst of spontaneous festivity, cultural activities, religious rites, culinary delicacies, royal and chivalrous Rajasthan and much more beyond expectation and imagination. A week long extravaganza called Pushkar Fair in Ajmer district of Rajasthan beckons the tourists to revel in the spiritual environs of Pushkar. Pushkar Fair, in addition to normal fairs, is known for several unique programs and activities. Pushkar Fair is organized and promoted by Department of Tourism of Government of Rajasthan. Among prominent activities and programs are-

(b) Mandna, Turban Tying, Tilak and Moustache Competitions- uniquely Indian affair with lot of cultural connotations.

(c) Gir & Cross Bred Cattle Exhibition- holds immense importance in predominantly agriculture and animal husbandry based rural economy.

(d) Kabaddi, Football, Wrestling and Rural Sports displaying coupling of skills and adventure.

(e) Indian Bride and Groom Competitions unfolding exotic aspects of culturally colourful Indian marriages.

(f) Camel Beauty Pageant, Camel Decoration and Horse Dance.

(g) Art & Craft Bazaar displaying beautiful ethnic and handicraft items. 

(h) Maha Aarti & Deepdan- traditional Hindu way of worshiping deity.

Pushkar Fair is major tourist attraction. During Pushkar Fair, hotels charge premium rates. Due to great influx of the tourists, room supply of the hotels turns out to be insufficient. Therefore, several tents, ranging from luxury to budget, are erected. The tourists are suggested to book accommodation during Pushkar Fair well in advance to avoid any glitch. Many guests prefer to stay in Jaipur hotel and visit Pushkar on a day tour.
